The Old Violin |
---|
'Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer |
“What am I bidden, good folk?” he cried, |
From the room far back, a grey haired man |
The Music ceased, and the auctioneer, |
“A thousand dollars – and who'll make it two? |
The people cheered, but some of them said, |
And many a man with life out of tune, |
A “Mess of Pottage;” a glass of wine, |
But the Saviour comes, and the foolish world |
“For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John chapter 3 verse 16)
“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2nd Corinthians, chapter 5 verse 17)
