Lecture by Dr. Nick Needham
The Roman Catholic Church has changed since the days of the Reformation. We explore the changes and it is crucial that we understand exactly what these changes are if we are to have an understanding of modern Catholicism. Dr Needham points out that it is pointless pretending there are no changes and refighting the battles of the past for the battle lines changed. Instead we should seek to understand its nature and implications. Secondly he asks what is the Roman Catholic attitude to Divine Revelation? (attitude to the Bible) He expands the question by asking in what sense does Rome see the Bible as containing exclusive religious truth? And in what sense do they see that truth necessary to salvation?
