Historical, Biographical and Theological Lectures

Interesting Historical, Biographical and Theological Lectures given in the Reformed Baptist Church, Inverness, Scotland by Dr Nick Needham and Jack Seaton (Pastor Emeritus of the Church). These lectures cover various subjects but mainly centre on the lives of men and women used by God for his glory. The lectures are practical and interesting.

The Five Points of Calvinism

Dr Needham addressed the Reformed Baptist Church, Inverness, Scotland on the teachings that make up the 5 Points of Calvinism. This is a series of five sermons and covers the doctrines of: Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace and Perseverance of the Saints. I have extracted Dr Needham's introduction, given as part of the first lecture, as a separate item to give you the background to the nickname of "Calvinism" and a taster of what is to come in the other five podcasts.

Congregational Praise

A selection of hymns and Metrical Psalms taken from the worship services of the Reformed Baptist Church, Inverness, Scotland. The singing you will hear is not that of professional singers but that of a normal congregation of the Lord's people gathered together on the Lord's Day enjoying the worship of God.

Sermons

Sermons extracted from the worship of the Reformed Baptist Church Inverness. The preachers shall be mainly W. J. Seaton or Dr. Nick Needham but from time to time a visiting speaker may be included.

“What Saith the Scriptures?”

A series of audio recordings in which a brief outline of the message and content of the books of the Bible are given. This material, adapted by Pastor Jack Seaton, came from anonymous notes in an old edition of the Bible consisting of eleven small pocket-size volumes.

“The Lower Lights”

This series looks at some of the “Lower Lights” of the Church of Christ who are mentioned in the Word of God. A whole collection of names, a whole bevvy of saints, a whole bunch of everlastings, a whole orchard of pomegranates bear testimony to the fact that God is no man's debtor, and that He will honour them that honour Him.

“Conversion Experiences”
(And thoughts which can lead to that experience)

Conversion Experiences differ from one individual to another, do not let this fact confuse you. Many paths led to Noah's Ark at the time of the flood but there was only one door into the Ark. So to there are many ways men and women, boys and girls are moved in their souls but there is only one-way to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved”.

“Great Hymns and their Writers”

The title of this series of podcasts describes exactly what they are about, “Great Hymns and their Writers”. We look at what each writer was teaching in the words of their hymn while at the same time learning about the writer. The series first appeared in print between 1970 and 1979 in the Wicket Gate Magazine and were written by W. J. Seaton.
