“Now let a song of sacred joy”

A hymn written by Samuel Medley

(1)

Now let a song of sacred joy
Our voices and our hearts employ;
While we on earth attempt to tell
The glories of Emmanuel.

(2)

Seraphs and angels round His throne
Unite to make His glories known;
Yet does He all their praise excel,
So great is our Emmanuel

(3)

For us He left the worlds above
On wings of everlasting love,
With sinful worms on earth to dwell,
And thus appeared Emmanuel.

(4)

Hail, great Redeemer, all Divine!
In whom eternal glories shine;
With joy to all the world we tell
Our Jesus is Emmanuel.

(5)

Accept, dear Lord! the highest praise
Our hearts and voices here can raise;
With Thee ere long we hope to dwell,
And ever sing Emmanuel.
